And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?” - 1 Corinthians 9:24
I heard someone ask her friend how far she had come with her resolutions for the year 2024 or if she trusted in the God of the eleventh hour. This was actually said in jest because of the way times have been hard and things don’t seem to be working out for many people. We have all been hopeful that things will get better soon, and that’s why this statement that was made sarcastically is a wake-up call that God has not abdicated His throne.
Just because things don’t work out the way we planned or within the time-frame we allocated ourselves, doesn’t mean that God will not fulfill that which He promised us. If He said it to us, showed it through dreams and visions or even sent a messenger to us with a Word, then it shall surely come to pass!
The tendency of human beings is to judge situations by worldly standards; that if it hasn’t happened by now then it definitely can’t or won’t happen. Here are some verses to remind you of the love and goodness of God to accomplish that which He begins:
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” – Isaiah 55:11
For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.” - Romans 3:3-4
“Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.” – Joshua 21:45
It may seem too late in the day for anything meaningful to come from your life, but God can surprise you at the very last minute. He is the God of the eleventh hour, trust His timing. Your resolutions for the year may be fulfilled even at 11.59pm on 31 December 2023
Keep hope alive!
